Buried bomb kills water vendor in Yobe school ground

A bomb suspected to have been planted in a Yobe school assembly to kill students has killed a water vendor who pushed his truck over it.
A water vendor has died after a bomb buried at the assembly ground of Ari Kime Primary School in Potiskum, Yobe exploded on Sunday night.
Student Pulse gathered that the bomb, suspected to have been planted by Boko Haram insurgents, went off around 7:35pm as the vendor pushed his wheelbarrow over the spot where the bomb was buried.
Speculations are that the bomb was planted there to kill students of the school attending special classes for the forthcoming Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE).
A source quoted by Daily Trust, Abubakar Yusuf, said the school may have been targeted by Boko Haram insurgents because of the high population of students.
“You know Ari Kime is the most populated area in Potiskum and the school has a very large population because it combine primary and junior secondary schools and right now SSCE candidates are taking special classes inside the school,” Yusuf said.
Boko Haram's onslaught against western education has seen several schools targeted in multiple attacks across the North-East.
Potiskum town has witnessed quite a number of attacks, with the most recent being the attack on the Senior Science Secondary School Potiskum where more than 50 students were killed.
