Two prominent members of the party and four other partisans died in a car crash in Ogun State last Thursday.
Six members of the Labour Party in Ogun State on Thursday, January 22, lost their lives in an auto crash.
According to City People, two prominent leaders of the Labour party, Ibrahim Oladele and Wale Oke
alongside four other partisans were traveling along Owode-Idi-Iroko
Road, Yewa South local government area of the state when the bus they
were travelling in had a head-on collision with another vehicle.
The
six of them were said to be on their way to Abeokuta to participate in
the party’s programme on Thursday, January 22 when they lost their
lives.
According to City People sources,
smugglers who were being pursued by men of Nigeria customs Service,
rammed into the bus that the politicians were traveling with.
The state Secretary of the party, Sunday Oginni, confirmed the incident to City People, describing it as a loss.
“The
party lost six grass roots politicians to the accident. The accident is
a setback to us as a party because the people that lost their lives
were very active party leaders who we used as field soldiers for our
campaign,” Sunday Oguini bemoaned the accident.
